This week in the Kitchen, we learned more about whole grains and how we can make nutritious and tasty foods on our own!

We made granola in an electric skillet and which can also be made in a frying pan on a cook-top.
Make a batch of this granola – and use it multiple ways throughout the week.  Eat it with milk for cereal, top yogurt, sprinkle over fruit for crunch, or eat it by itself as a snack.

¼ cup slivered or chopped

¼ cup flax seed (optional)

1 tbsp oil (canola, olive)

2 tbsp honey or agave

Sprinkle of salt and
cinnamon, to taste

¼- ½ cup dried cranberries
(or raisins, apricots, or blueberries)

quick skillet recipe!)

Heat a large skillet/pan to
medium heat.  (Electric skillet can be
used for a larger batch)

Add all ingredients except
dried fruit.  Stir and coat oat mixture
evenly.

Continue to stir, every
couple of minutes. Cook for 15-20 minutes.

Add dried fruit.
Remove from heat, and lay out for mixture to cool.

Store in an air-tight
container. Serve as snack, on top of yogurt or frozen yogurt, or with milk as a
cereal.
