I have made smoothies for my kids here and there, usually around a snack time.  But, recently, I tried this smoothie recipe for a breakfast meal. Its not their preference for a ‘meal’ but a nice supplement to their existing breakfast, lunch, or snack.

Sometimes my kids are bothered by me putting spinach, or something green, into a smoothie.  But, both of them saw how I made it and still asked to try it the first time.  They both came back for seconds!

I just wanted to share with you the recipe:

Raspberry Banana Spinach Smoothie

1 cup raspberries, preferably frozen
1 cup loosely packed spinach
1 banana, frozen or fresh
1 tbsp natural peanut or almond butter
1 cup cold water
1 tbsp flax seed or chia seeds
Juice of 2-3 lemon wedges, optional

Blend it well.  Drink it on the go like me, as I like to sip on it.
Keeps me full for hours.

KK Kitchen Tip #1: Do not use a reusable/hard type of straw with smoothies unless you can wash it immediately after.  Disposable straws are must if you take it on the go.  Too hard to clean otherwise.
