Each New Years Eve, we set out a bowl of fruit, 12 different kinds.  I started this tradition with the kids years ago, and they continue to remind me that we have to go get our New Years Fruit!  This tradition comes from the Philippines.         And, because it represents good health and nutrition, I adopted it.

On December 31st, we go buy 12 different pieces of whole fruit.  Kids like to pick out their favorites but its also fun to select a new one or two to try.

Each one represents good luck, happiness, and health in the new year.  One fruit represents each month of the upcoming new year.

We still need to get our fruit for this year, but after we do, I’ll be sure to post it on our facebook page.

If you decide to do this, I would love to see your photos too!  Post them here:

To see our bowl from last year, for 2012 and to learn more about this tradition, visit last year’s blog post.  And, by the way, we really did have good luck, happiness, and health this past year!  Give it a try.
