Eat well is the literal English equivalent of ‘Mangia bene’. A looser equivalent is ‘Have a good meal’ or ‘Enjoy your food’. In the word by word translation, the imperative ‘mangia’ means ‘[you] eat’. The adverb ‘bene’ means ‘well’.
I love this – its my new saying!
I just hosted a party featuring samplings of Italian dishes. On the list was, of course, pizza. (Even though pizza did not actually orginate in Italy!) The pizza I served was a Scillian with ……
Salad, with Italian dressing!
And, to top it all off, we had Spumante for dessert.
I will be traveling it Italy in less than one month. Already can’t wait to get back, try some new dishes at home, and bring those to you!
