An agua fresca is a Mexican drink that translates to fresh water. They come in many flavors, but watermelon (sandia in Spanish) is arguably the most popular as the fruit is already around 90% water! Agua frescas are light, refreshing, and hydrating. Perfect for these long, hot August days.

Ingredients

  • 2½ -3 cups (12 oz) watermelon, seeded and in chunks
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 3-4 cups water
  • Juice of half a lime (can add more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Pulse until watermelon is pureed and ingredients are combined.
  2. Pass mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, to ensure all seeds are removed.
  3. Place pitcher in the fridge to chill for 1-2 hours, or serve immediately over ice.
