Due to Spring Break last week, we did not have class.  So, for today’s post, I thought I would share what we found at our recent trip to the Farmers Market and Sprouts Farmers Market

Yellow cauliflower and purple carrots from Johnson’s Backyard Garden at the Cedar Park Farmers Market.
Blood red oranges, sweet potatoes, and a super cheap eggplant from Sprouts!

Eggplant – about the only thing I have ever done with them is to make Mousakka. What about you?
Sweet Potatoes – just made my sweet potato hash for dinner.  LOVE it.  Recipe is coming soon.
Purple carrots –  washed them off and chomped down!  Also, sliced and diced for salads and dipping.
Yellow Cauliflower – roasted with olive oil, salt, pepper, and parmesean cheese in the oven.
Like butter.
Blood Red Oranges – kids in class tried these red cuties out.  Fun to make orange juice with these – and you get RED orange juice!

What do you buy when you go farmers market shopping?  This is such a great family activity to do on the weekends together. Let kids experience different colors and varieties of produce – let them pick something out new to try!
