Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using a stand or hand mixer, beat the butter with both sugars until creamy. Add the vanilla and egg. Beat on low speed until just incorporated.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Mix to combine.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Roll into 12 dough balls. Bake 9-11 minutes until cookies look puffy and dry and just barely golden. Do not overbake! Because these cookies are soft baked, they make look underdone however a toothpick inserted will come out clean.
  6. Cookies are very soft, so let them cool about 10 minutes before eating.
